Celebrate Saint Francis, the Patron Saint of the environment and all things small and furry, at a special ‘Blessing of the Pets’ at 12.00noon this Sunday 2 October. The custom honours St. Francis of Assisi and his love for all creatures. Francis loved the larks flying about his hilltop town, and he and his brothers, when staying in a small hovel, even once allowed themselves to be displaced by a donkey.
The bond between us and our pets is like no other relationship. So no wonder people enjoy the opportunity to take their pets to church for a blessing, where the bonds of creation are remembered and celebrated.
